GENDER EQUALITY AND LIBERTY OF SOCIAL

Should people specialize at work on gender? Is the gender equality movement harming the mental health of women? Those are horrible problems that generated in the past and multiple arguments are being happened at present also. Throughout tis article hope to study meaning of the gender equality, historical evidence and past situation on this matter, what are the associations for women’s rights, legal situation on women’s liberation. However, present world tends to maintain gender equality at present society likewise giving same literacy rate, more chance to represent parliament, making new act against the sexual harassment on women, making associations for liberty of women. Other than those steps there are so many religious teachings in some world established religions like Buddhism. 



1. Introduction

According to this recent study, women have better mental health relative to men in countries that have less gender equality. A definition Gender equality means that all genders are free to pursue whatever career, lifestyle choice, and abilities they want without discrimination. Their rights, opportunities, and access to society are not different based on their gender. Gender equality does not necessarily mean that everyone is treated exactly the same. Gender equality, also known as sexual equality or equality of the sexes, is the state of equal ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender, including economic participation and decision-making; and the state of valuing different behaviors, aspirations and needs equally, regardless of gender.



2. HISTORICAL EVIDENCE

Ancient society is based on father and some countries may be differ this situation. In the monarchy, king has so many wives. Also, in that society there was a polygamy.  One man can marry two or more wives as he wished. most of women haven’t well education and as a requirement of girl is highly searched her virginity. 


2.1 Foreign evidence

Ramayana is a historical book that written by ancient writer called “Valmeki” .it always about how to view it. It can be increasingly regressive or very progressive at the same time. Here I will discuss these two aspects of Ramayana.

Sita And Her ‘Nazari Dharma’

According to some feminist’s trajectory of irrelevant acts seamlessly are portrayed in the epic. The most prominent ones were the preaching of “Naari Dharma”, the reflection of ideal woman in Sita, and the “Agnee Pareeksha”. Throughout the epic, ‘Naari Dharma’ is taught, preached, glorified, evaluated and practiced by all the female characters. Naari dharma entails endless loyalty and servitude towards her husband, who is an epitome of god in her eyes, abiding to all the rules designed by the patriarchs, devotion to household work, sacrificing herself for the larger good etc. Women, who are docile and execute the dharm assigned to them, by virtue of their gender, with pure dedication are pedestalized, celebrated and idealized like Sita.  

2.2 Local evidence

“Mahavamsa” is another evidence.  It has mentioned story about “Unmade Chitra”. She has imprisoned. She didn’t get permission for an even marriage as well. Considering those evidence, we can conclude there is no liberty in past for women in society. Because of this case women have been limited to minimum at the society.

3. LEGAL ACTS AND ASSOCIASIONS FOR WOMEN

As a good example for this, we can consider article 12(2) of the constitution of Sri Lanka established in 1978, demonstrates the principle of non-discrimination based on gender (and other specific circumstances) and can be used to prevent violence against women. As well in Arab, they lose their law on women and women has been given permission to get license for drive vehicles.

Gender equality, also known as sexual equality or equality of the sexes, including economic participation and decision-making. In the ancient society there is no liberty than present. There are so man acts in the law all around the world to prevent violence against women. Gender equality has been important thing for present society.
